Ethereum rug pulls, the last 30 days: 262 pools, 807 ETH trapped, one $522k honeypot

Our scanner flagged 262 Ethereum pools that rugged in the last 30 days, trapping about 807 ETH (~$1.5M) of buyer money. One token, ORNN, took 280 ETH and returned zero. Here is the list and how concentrated the damage was.

Over the last 30 days our scanner watched every new Uniswap v2 pool on Ethereum mainnet and tracked what happened to the money that went in. The count of rugs that actually trapped buyer funds:

262 pools rugged, roughly 807 ETH (about $1.5M) of buyer money trapped.

Horizontal bar chart of Ethereum rug pulls in the last 30 days by ETH trapped. ORNN 280 ETH, PHAROS 36, NOME 12, PICKS 11, MOON 10, DATAIP 8, VSTR 6, BLST 4. 262 pools rugged, 807 ETH trapped total.

One token was a third of the damage

The rug of the month is ORNN. Buyers put in 280.3 ETH (~$522k). Zero came back out. Not 5%, not 1%. Zero. That is the signature of a pure honeypot: the contract accepts your buy and then silently refuses every sell. Everyone who bought is still holding, and always will be.

ORNN alone is about 35% of all the ETH trapped this month. The rest of the list drops off fast: PHAROS at 36 ETH (~$67k), then a long tail of small rugs in the single-digit-to-low-double-digit ETH range. That shape is normal. A few large traps do most of the dollar damage, and a swarm of tiny ones does most of the count.

Were they detectable?

Nine of the ten biggest rugs scored 70 or higher on our risk model at scan time, before they rugged. We are not going to pretend it is perfect: one no-name token in the top ten scored 60, and detection is never 100%. But the honest number, which we published separately, is that once real retail money goes into a pool, we catch roughly 97% of the ones that end up trapping it. The gap is small, and it is the thing we work on.

The takeaway is boring and it is the whole product: these are checkable before you buy, not after. Paste any Ethereum token into RektRadar and it reads the contract first, or pull the same signals through the free API.

Numbers from RektRadar’s live index, pools created in the 30 days to 24 July 2026. Rug defined as a pool that held at least 1 ETH of liquidity and took at least 1 ETH of buys, where buyers recovered under 25% of the ETH they put in. ETH valued at ~$1,861.
